The InterDocSchool project prepared by us ("Internationalisation of Wrocław University of Science and Technology Doctoral School") will enable us to increase the internationalisation of WUST’s Doctoral School - says Prof. Krzysztof Walkowiak, Dean of WUST’s Doctoral School. – This includes the implementation of foreign placements for doctoral students, organisation of summer and winter school programmes, study visits to other schools, organisation of visiting professors’ visits, or the creation of new courses in English – he adds.
The competition allowed for only ten projects to be financed, so it is worth stressing that obtaining the grant by Wrocław University of Science and Technology is a great success, because the rules favoured universities that had a research status.
All universities among the top ten beneficiaries of the programme named “Initiative of Excellence - Research University” received 20 points automatically, while the universities that reached the second ten, including Wrocław University of Science and Technology, received 10 points automatically. – As for the other evaluation criteria, a maximum of 80 points could be obtained. Among the ten winners, only two universities don’t have the status of a research university – stresses Prof. Krzysztof Walkowiak.
Currently, about 300 people are pursuing their courses at the Doctoral School. In the current academic year, the classes are conducted in parallel with the gradually phased out doctoral studies.
The "STER - Internationalisation of Doctoral Schools" programme was addressed to Polish universities and research units which run doctoral schools. Apart from Wrocław University of Science and Technology, nine universities will receive funding totalling nearly 20 million PLN.
